My desire to be a technician was just beginning.
Sunday, October 31st, 2010Finally I was home for holidays after being away for close to four months. I hated boarding schools, but there was little I could do. My brother and I had to be sent away to boarding schools because my mum’s job was not flexible and sometimes she was required to travel even outside town for a week or two. She talked to us about it though and we agreed to go to save her the worry. My mum always talked to us before making any decisions. My brother was looking so happy to be home too. I had so much to do, so much that I learnt from my friends in school. My cousins were living not far from our home and mum always allowed us to visit them whenever we wanted to. We visited them the following day and I wanted to show my elder cousin how he can identify his sound card, so I asked him what type of sound card his computer used. “how do i identify my sound card yet it is installed in the computer?”, he asked. It was simple, so I explained to him how. My friend at school told me that people needed to know the type of their computer’s sound cards in case they may want to replace it or troubleshoot it. ‘Its also important to find out your sound card outputs so that you can connect your headphones or speakers’, I concluded my show. I noticed there was a technician in their house who was coming to help uncle with a problem with memory card. He was telling my uncle to plug the card into an external USB hub because the design of the card was different from others. I started wishing that this guy could teach me some skills so that I could help mum fix her gadgets instead of calling a technician all the time. When I proposed that to him, he agreed with no conditions.
