New Generation of Mothers Taking Advantage of Information Available Online
My daughter is pregnant with her first child which will make me a first time grandmother. I’m so excited and can’t wait for that little precious thing to pop out. All this reminds me of the days when I gave birth to my daughter. She has grown up so fast and now is getting ready to be a mother herself. When I think back about the days I was raising her, I realize that I didn’t know as much about parenting and baby products as I know now. Not only because I was young and inexperienced but also because information was not as widely available back then as it is now.
When we go out shopping with my daughter she tells me all about these fancy almost gadget type products for babies that I didn’t even know they existed or for that matter that we needed them. She learns about them mostly from the internet. She reads reviews about organic baby clothes, compares cotton vs. bamboo, and reads about experiences other mothers had during delivery, evaluates breast pump reviews, carefully researches baby shampoos and so much more. Even though I’m the one who has already given birth twice and raised two wonderful children, this time I feel like I am the novice and learning from her.
The other day I surprised her with a set of organic baby onesies I had bought from an online retailer and she complemented my purchase and said that she loved these not only because they were made from 100% organic cotton but also had tags sawn outside of the garment to prevent irritation on baby’s skin. I have to confess I didn’t pay attention to that but that is our secret.
