Dysport, a product similar to Botox, is close to getting FDA approval in America.
When you get right down to it, both treatments are the same. Some studies show Dypost lasts a bit longer than Botox, but they both use the same main ingredient. This is important because Botox will not have the monopoly they have had so far if Dysport passes. The chemical both products used is called botulinum toxin. It’s a derived protein that targets muscles. This is what gets rid of the wrinkles and stops muscle spasms. From personal experience, I like Botox more.
When I tried out Dysport in a clinical study, I felt more muscles in my face tightening up. Botox is more mild and from my experience, only affects the targeted area. Yes, you’ll spend more money on Botox, but then the argument boils down to quantity vs quality. From doing my own independent research, a lot of people who have also used both of these products did complain the same as I, that Dysport is stronger than wholesale Botox. Most however didn’t specify whether they liked the fact it was stronger or not, or if they were experiencing any problems with the dysport. About 20% of them liked Dysport more than Botox, so that would be leaving Botox still with a huge 80% market share.
If you are looking for treatment, I recommend just going ahead with Botox from Canada. I don’t feel Dysport will be anything special worth waiting for. The fact it is taking a long time to be approved by the FDA suggests to me it’s not completely safe to use anyway. Botulinum toxin is supposed to be used sparingly in small doses, and Dysport uses more than Botox.
